This work marks a turning point in my art. A bridge between my "pre" and "post" formal education work.
I remember carrying this painting out into the backyard to paint the apple tree, and while I painted, the robin flew down to sit in the tree for me. There seems to be a running theme throughout my outdoor works of animals coming to visit me while I work. I think when I'm working, I get into a very calm meditative state which must communicate to the wildlife in the area that "This human is safe. Go back to your normal routine". As for the units of measurement at the bottom of the painting - I'm Canadian, so you can walk a Kilometre in my shoes instead.
